2023 Sonoma County Syrah
44% Bennett Valley Syrah, Radiant Ridge Vineyard
44% Russian River Valley Syrah, Papa’s Block
12% Sonoma Valley Grenache, Rossi Ranch
Like our Sonoma County Zinfandel, a perennial overachiever, punching well above its price point. Using our Radiant Ridge Syrah as the base, we stole away some of our Papa’s Block Syrah and Rossi Ranch Grenache to produce this final Sonoma County Syrah. Seventeen percent new French oak. Fined with two egg whites per barrel to polish the tannins but bottled unfiltered after 15 months of aging.
Tasting Note:
Inky purple in color. Nearly opaque. Aromas of bacon fat, blueberry, olive tapenade, and black pepper spill from the glass. Syrah doesn’t get any more classic than this! Medium-full to full bodied, flavors of blackberry, pepper, olive, and smoked meat dance across the palate. Very refined and elegant, this rivals our ’09 as the finest Sonoma County Syrah we have produced. Enjoy from 2027 through 2041. (MRO - 01/15/26)
