Old Hill performed admirably in this vintage, with the old vines yielding approximately 2.7 tons to the acre.  Fully destemmed and cold soaked for five days, it was apparent that the tanks wanted to ferment on their own.  Hence, we got out of Mother Nature’s way and let ‘em rip!  After 18 days on the skins, the wine was pressed into all French oak, only 18% new.  As usual, bottled unfined and unfiltered.

Tasting Note:

Medium to medium-dark ruby-garnet, captivating aromas of boysenberry, raspberry, blood orange, and clove spill from the glass.  But as wonderful as the nose is, it’s the palate where this wine really shines.  Sultry, caressing, inviting, with smooth tannin supporting the flavors of red berry fruit, freshly tilled earth, and brown spice.  The finish sails on forever.  Enjoy this special wine from release through 2036.
